Northern Star Media is a newly launched venture from highly experienced broadcast media journalist, Mike McCarthy.
With decades of on-camera experience as a regular reporter/correspondent for the likes of the BBC and Sky News, Mike is now offering businesses and individuals professional media training.
Services include: How to deal with / face the media (including crisis management), composing press releases, how to handle a press conference, working with journalists – and much more. Tailored, professional media training services are the specialist area of expertise, available now from Northern Star Media.
Background & Brief
On this particular occasion, the client found @mounsey as a direct result of searching on Google for “WordPress Training Sheffield” (try it!). An initial enquiry via mounsey.co.uk followed soon after – and a meeting was arranged. Initially it was the client’s intention to build the entire website “in-house” – having had some broad exposure to “WordPress.com” in the past.
During our meeting, however (part of which involved me providing a detailed overview of the WordPress platform and a demonstration of some core techniques), Mike expressed an interest in Mounsey Web Consultancy handling the core build and development process. The idea being that he was to then take over the on-going expansion of the Site, by way of occasional blog posts, post launch.
I provided some outline ideas for the Website – and a detailed, itemised quotation followed soon after. This was swiftly accepted – green-lighting the project in the process!

The Finished Article
The completed Website launched on the 29th May, 2019 – and was broadly promoted internally by Northern Star Media (Mike has an impressive audience of over 9,500 Followers on Twitter) – and also by @mounsey, across my various Social Media channels. Early feedback has been extremely encouraging – and a post completion meeting has already also taken place, which focussed on on-going Search Engine Optimisation and monitoring opportunities for the Site, moving forward.
As a key preliminary part of this project, I was also tasked with producing a brand-new debut logo for the venture – a monochrome version of which is displayed here:
