Founded in 1909, The Science Museum Group consists of five British museums: The Science Museum in South Kensington (London); The Science & Industry Museum (Manchester); The National Railway Museum (York); Locomotion (County Durham) and The National Science & Media Museum (Bradford).

As one might expect for such a large, long-established organisation the Group operate a number of Websites - including satellite blogs, educational resources and venue hire destinations.

Background & Brief

Having been personally recommended, I was approached by a member of the SMG web/marketing team to potentially take over the important task of ensuring that several of the Group's key Websites were kept up to date. Due to an internal staffing departure this vital requirement had slipped and become ever more pressing, with the number of available updates reaching a concerning level.

Following an initial investigation carried out by myself I have since successfully updated no less than 10 (ten!) SMG Websites, with no issues throughout the potentially precarious process.

Better still, an ongoing service is now in place for a provisional year, which will ensure that these hugely popular Websites will continue to have underlying systems which are up to date, secure and comprehensively compatible.
